EbonyJanice Presents: Freedom Now Not Soon

Sun, February 21, 2021 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM EST

ABOUT THIS LECTURE

The idea of antiracism work is that we are not racist. That is the bottom of the barrel, in reality, when it comes to black people and people of color’s thriving. So LIBERATION has to be our focus. “Freedom NOW… not SOON” is an introduction to liberation, liberation theology, and abolition. The focus is on black people’s liberation, however there is language for people considering themselves allies and co conspirators. What does it look like for us all to move beyond the idea of JUST being anti-racist towards actual liberation for all of us NOW. We can not wait for the liberation that is allegedly coming “soon.”

EbonyJanice Presents: Beyonce and African Spirit Justice

Sun, April 25, 2021 8:00 PM – 10:30 PM EDT

ABOUT THIS LECTURE

In a lecture series centered around “LIBERATION” Beyonce’s “Lemonade” is a very important conversation about what actual liberation looks like. The visual album featured various black spirit themes and African Spiritual Traditional Religious elements that bring us to the question of how “Black Girl Magic” and various other black spiritual tools have been used and will need to be used to bring us to the “Freedom” Beyonce sang about on this album. The lecture will engage various learning models in real time and ask the students to consider the ways that these religions have been or could be strategic and intentional conduits for the black woman’s reality of self healing, self actualizing, radical self love in an Anti-Black oppressive system and for manifesting veritable social justice realities within her community historically and in the future.
